I feel like everyone who consider them selfs hardcore gamers are buying more indie games just to say that they play indie games. It pisses me off, quit playing games just because they're indie. If it really is a good game then awesome but I hate how most people say its a good indie game just because it's and indie game

I've never heard one person specifically stress that they play indie games or even mention it that much. This isn't music bro.

I know plenty of kids at my school who enjoy indie games just because they're indie games

The main appeal of Indie Games is that they don't water down the difficult to appeal to a wider market, a problem plagued by most mainstream games.(Every new Mario game for example)

I'm not saying indie games are bad, but not all indie games are good. These kids though think that just because it's an indie game it's good.

I play indie games because they're usually unique, cheap, and fun. And also don't get fifty thousand farking dlc's.

But if you played an indie game that was bad, would you still say it was good because it was "original" or "had unique graphics".

No.

But mostly, the only time I get bad indies is when they're in packs with other games that I want.

Limbo is a fine example of a game that's bad, but has 'unique graphics' and is 'original'. I expected it to be great, but it's just another puzzle game, except you're rather clueless and everything's black and white.

Exactly, just because it's indie doesn't make it good. Thats why don't ussualy like people who "enjoy" indie games because they only play because it's indie.

Now that thats over, the only indie that I am positive Lips Sealed is an indie game is Cave Story.

Then again, what 'defines' the indie genre? Is it just games made by small studios?

I've seen them as usually being simple and fun. But as with all genres, it comes with it's fair share of s***ty games. Caster is an awesome example of a great indie game that delivers more than most games of it's price tag. It's simple, sweet, and short. And underrated as fark.

I also forgot to mention that Limbo plays badly. I didn't like the jumping / rope climbing at all.

I would say indie games are games that are made by smaller companies

Well just independent studios I guess Tongue Not with a major publisher or backing. Or one man teams, etc Tongue

But yeah there are a ton of s***ty indie games just like any genre or type of game.

Oh yeah, guys. Sanctum. It's 20$ for it + all the DLC, but it's pretty damn fun. For the next 15 hours or so, it's on sale on Steam, so grab it (the Sanctum collection) for 5$, while you still can. Cheesy

Orcs must die is pretty cool. It's pretty fun, using magic and stuff to defend from an orc invasion. Not much I can say about it, really.

Defense Grid is one of the best Tower Defense games I've played. It's like... THE Tower Defense game. Good story, good towers... Good graphics. And I got the DLC free from the summer sale, so it's all good. Cheesy

I'll probably have more when I remember them...

Dungeons of Dredmor? Prinny Shrugs I enjoy it (and if you look into the game, it is meant to be played with Perma-death on). This is the first game in this genre where I put a lot of time into. IT"S GREAT!
