"Miyamoto, who smiled during all the interview - even when he wants to change the topic because 'it's not the moment' to talk about Wii U - thinks that the experience and the new game modes of this new console won't be 'easily replicated in other devices', which will allow them to escape the new tablet competition. The creator advances that at the next E3, the biggest video games show, which is celebrated in Los Angeles in June, Nintendo will present a new Super Mario for this platform, in which you will combine the TV screen with the screen in the controller." - Spanish newspaper, El Mundo

This shall be awesome Cheesy

Why? We haven't even seen the actual game aside from a tech demo a year ago. Getting a new 2D mario platformer is awesome.

I was expecting something a little "more" so to speak. Hopefully it'll be more challenging than *cough* Super Mario 3D Land *cough*.

Let me guess, Peach is going to get captured by Bowser AGAIN then Mario will rescue her, and Luigi will continue being a virgin.

“In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii U system will be shown at this year's E3 Expo. This is based on the Mario experience that was demonstrated at last year's E3 Expo. We'll have more to announce about our plans for the E3 Expo at a later date.” - NoA Statement

It says based upon so it could be a lot different than what we saw

code fail. Also I'm not even going to bother spending the time to explain why Mario games don't need a story to someone like you.

One thing I love is that the core mario games don't have a huge story unlike Sonic (which should seriously be "Eggman is doing bad stuff, run fast. Really farking fast") or other platformers with 5000 things going on

I usually play platformers only for the fun in playing. If I wan't a deep story I'll play an RPG or something. Tongue

Exactly. A perfect example of a 2D platformer having a great story but not forcing it upon you is Cave Story.

Simplicity is usually good.

That was just a tech demo, a proof of concept.

We really have no clue what the game will be like or if the final name will be Super Mario Bros. Mii

Don't really care about the game but I do like the whole idea of "If someone else wants to use the TV" you can practically turn the WiiU controller into a handheld. I never thought of that to be honest.
