It sure as hell can't be the Beatles cuz, you know, they broken up 41 years ago. Unless iTunes somehow sends my money back to the 1960's and gives it to the Beatles, I feel like I'm getting ripped off

How stupid is it that some whiny-ass music corporation makes profits off of other peoples' hard labor?

iTunes could not have the Beatles at all if that makes you happy. Seriously just enjoy the music.

How are you getting ripped off? Whoever owns the Beatles' catalog makes something like 70% off their iTunes sales with Apple making the rest.

Just because the Beatles broke up doesn't mean their music should be free. The living members still make money off it, as do whoever else owns their music now.

And how is Apple a "whiny ass music corporation"? Only whining I hear is from you.

Apple is not whiny, I'm talking about RIAA

And why do people "own" the Beatles' music? They did absolutely nothing to help the Beatles, so IMO they should not own the music

The RIAA doesn't own the music. The RIAA is just an organization that represents major record labels. The Beatles music is owned by the Beatles and whoever their label is, because the label paid for the music to be produced.

You don't understand the music industry at all, do you?

Digital music is overpriced in general. If you go to the store and pick up a physical copy of Revolver off the shelf, then by all means it should be full price. It costs money to manufacture each CD and whatever comes with it. If you get it from iTunes or something that's a different story, because there are literally infinite copies of every album in the iTunes store, and they are distributed at minimal cost if any.

I realize now that nothing I just said had anything to do with the fact that the Beatles broke up 41 years ago. Tongue

That's the music business's self entitlement. "Well we were making $14 off each CD in the 90s, so we should still get to make that much now!". It's bulls*** and it's one of the only areas where you see that happening. It's not like computers, which are now much easier to make than they were 20 years ago, have stayed the exact same price for the exact same product.

That's one of the reasons I don't see anything wrong with music piracy. The only way the industry will learn is if people refuse to put up with the bulls***. Yeah, artists will get hurt a little too & that's unfortunate. But honestly, artists make way more off touring & merch than they do off album sales generally anyways. So in my opinion, for bands who are on these big labels, pirate the album but go to a show & buy a tshirt.
